According to the World Health Organization (WHO), palliative care is: “…an approach that improves the quality of life of persons and their families facing the problems associated with life-limiting illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual.” A well-qualified Longevity Caregiver is able to ensure the basic needs of a palliative client are being met, while there is support for family caregivers during the illness. With Registered Nurse oversight, the Longevity care plan is adapted to follow the multidisciplinary team monitoring the client’s health.
